Sponsored by the German Academic Exchange Service I was working under Prof. Dr. Rainer Terinde and Prof. Dr. Dieter Grab at the Women’s Hospital of the Medical University of Ulm from Oct. 1st 1992 to March 31st 1994. The diagnosis and therapy of fetal diseases and the surveillance of high-risk pregnancies was my responsibility there. Additionally, I was trained in invasive diagnostic procedures (amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling).
Since 1997 I have been holder of Stage II Qualification according to the 3-Stage-Concept of the Austrian, German and Swiss Society of Ultrasound in Medicine (ÖGUM, DEGUM, SGUM). Every 5 years, holders of this qualification are reviewed and audited before they get conferred another certification for the next 5 years. Also, I am trained in breast ultrasound as well as in fetal heart ultrasound (fetal echocardiography) according to the guidelines of the German Society of Ultrasound in Medicine (DEGUM).
According to the training concept of the Fetal Medicine Foundation London I am certified to perform 1st Trimester Screenings with Combined Test and 2nd Trimester Screening (“Organ Screening”).
I also perform Screenings for Preeclampsia according to the latest guidelines and standards of the FMF.
I am very experienced in the field of invasive diagnostics – up to this day I have performed over 1.500 amniocenteses and over 500 chorionic villus samplings (CVS). Experience is an important factor when it comes to the risk of having a miscarriage after such an intervention.
I am married and father to 3 sons.
